Meet Alyson Wahaus, MA, LPC

Alyson Wahaus, MA, LPC, is a licensed professional counselor who specializes in helping individuals and couples recenter their lives around what matters most to them. She combines advanced training with deep compassion, creating a supportive and affirming therapy experience where clients can heal, grow, and thrive.

The Clinician

Alyson’s journey to becoming a counselor began in her mid-20s after seeking therapy for herself. What began as a personal step toward healing became a transformational experience. Therapy helped her grow in ways she hadn’t expected. This growth lead Alyson to realize she wanted to offer that same kind of therapeutic support to others.

Alyson earned her Master’s Degree in Marriage, Couple, and Family Counseling from MidAmerica Nazarene University in 2019. After completing the licensure process, she moved directly into private practice, where she continues to serve clients today.

Her style is person-centered, meaning your experiences and goals shape the direction of therapy. She also integrates elements of Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy and Attachment-Based Therapy to offer a relational and evidence-based approach that helps clients create lasting change in both their personal lives and relationships. 

Alyson is also a proud LGBTQIA+ ally and a believer in racial justice. These values inform her practice and ensure that her therapy room is a safe, affirming space for all.

The Person

Alyson’s care for people extends beyond her profession. It’s at the heart of who she is. She believes empathy and community are essential, and that if something makes life a little easier for someone else, and doesn’t cost you too much or go against your values, why not do it?

Outside of counseling, Alyson enjoys spending time with friends around a dinner table with delicious food or a fun game. She values her relationships and enjoys getting lost in a good story.

She also has a very handsome Siamese cat named Stanley Tucci (yes, like the actor), who she often takes for walks through their neighborhood.
